In the year 1876 gold was again found in the Black Hills of Dakota and a decision was made to place the Indian tribes living in this region in Reservations. Custer and his 7th Cavalry were given the task of implementing this decision and forcing the Sioux and Cheyenne onto the Reservations. On the morning of 25th June, Custers command attacked the camp of the Indian tribes, the Indians countered with their own attack which ended in the now famous defeat and death of Custer and his men.
